2003 Web Site Updates Archive

Who visits this site? Posted: 3 January 2003

The results are in! The ranking of pages people use to enter my web site are as follows:

  • 26% come in through Cinnamon’s page. This may be due to the fact that he’s part of the “Australian Shepherd Web-Ring.” In any case, it would break tradition if my site got more hits than my dog’s! ;-)
  • 22% come in through the Tin Soldier page. Maybe this is due to the Christmas season, but people seem to surf through and find me through search-engines looking for tin soldiers! I guess I should focus on doing more with that page then!
  • 15% come in through my Fife & Drum page. This one’s part of the “Fife and Drum” webring.
  • 9% actually come in through the front door (imagine that!)
  • 4% come in through the faq page looking for ugly fish mailboxes!! (I’m serious!)
  • and the rest (24%) are a mixture of people stumbling through who rarely stay to read or look at anything.

Calendar Removal Posted: 3 February 2003

I did away with my “Janis’s North American Tour” Calendar page, and replaced it with a link to MCV’s calendar. Since I’m down to the one band, I thought it was redundant to post the same info on my own page. (Not to mention a lot of work to maintain.) This way, every time I find out there’s a change, so do you.

Toy Soldiers Posted: 22 April 2003

It seems my most popular entry point on the web site is still the tin soldier page at 32%... and I just discovered most of the graphics didn’t show up on it. Apparently I don’t have any “regulars” or fans who look at it, because I haven’t gotten a single email about the errors. <sigh> But, they should be fixed now. If not, tell me! Coming in at 2nd with 12% of the hits is Cinnamon’s page, the former “most popular web page” on my site.

Searches people use to find my site are generally relevant, with searches for fife & drum, MCV, toy soldiers, etc. However, there’s still an overwhelming bunch of people who come to my page looking for ugly fish photos, mailboxes, and quilting patterns! There were a few looking for drum quilt patterns though... perhaps I’ll indulge them and come up with something.

New Pictures Posted: 6 June 2003

What can I say? I haven’t done a damn thing since the last news update. ;-) I’ve added more pictures from MCV gigs - but those get added pretty regularly. Email me if you have ideas or want to see something. One of these days I’ll do my semi-annual page-overhaul, but I’m not feeling terribly motivated lately, as I’ve got so many web pages on my plate that I’d rather not have to deal with my own right now.

New MP3 Posted: 11 July 2003

I’ve posted an mp3 recording of our fife quartet at the Old City Hall concert, on my recordings page.
