Sunny bobbing through the weaves
Sunny bobs through the weaves!

With a couple of good runs, Sunny scraped up the Q's (Qualifying scores) needed to complete her Novice Jumpers with Weaves AKC title and her Novice Standard AKC title! Also, at the beginning of last month she also pulled off an amazing first-time-out victory to complete the Q's needed to get her Novice Standard Gambler's title at WASCUNY's Spring Trial!

Sunny is off to a bright start in her agility career at not even 2 years old yet! We imagine we'll be camped out in "Open" for quite a while yet, but we're making progress!

Adopted! Posted: 3 May 2008

Codie was adopted! She now lives with a very nice 10-year old Aussie, and will be going to play at the beach and cranberry bogs. Obedience classes to work on her socialization skills are planned, and everyone is already falling in love with her sweet and affectionate nature.

Please check out the Aussie Rescue & Placement Helpline (ARPH) for more great dogs who are looking for love in their “forever home”!

Sunny's New Foster Sister Posted: 10 April 2008
Codie
Codie

Codie is a sweet and affectionate girl who wants to be your friend. She's 5 years old, has a very soft coat, and she'd like to snuggle up and take a nap on your foot. She has typical Aussie energy, so she's a "spry" 5, but she's mature and not an over-the-top crazy puppy (but she's no old lady either!). She seems to be settling in very well, and had no problems going into her crate to sleep last night. No whimpering or whining or complaining - my kind of dog!

Codie is available through the Australian Shepherd Rescue to approved adopters. Please check out the Aussie Rescue & Placement Helpline (ARPH), and fill out an adoption application today!

Bo-Gee CPE Agility Trial Posted: 2 March 2008

This weekend we went to the Bo-Gee CPE Agility Trial in Derry, NH where they had 900+ runs just the first day! Woo! The stress was high, and Sunny had some technical difficulties coping, but hit her groove the second day where we got 3rd in Wildcard, 1st in Colors, and 3rd in Jumpers.

Sunny's First CPE Agility Trial Posted: 24 February 2008

This Sunday we went to our first agility trial at Riverside K9 Center in Nashua, NH. Hosted by CPE, we got "Q's" (Qualifying scores towards level advancement) in FullHouse (2nd place), Snooker (1st place), and Jumpers (1st place). We didn't qualify in Jackpot (we never heard the whistle!), but managed to get a 4th place ribbon for it anyway.

Sunny's First Show 'n Go Posted: 20 January 2008

Today Sunny participated in her first agility show 'n go at the Riverside K9 Center in Nashua, NH. She did very well, considering she's never done much more than 5 apparatus' in a row! We did 17 apparatus' in a row, with only one missed weave-pole, one minor collision with Janis (handler error!), and one bar shaken loose. All in all, I think she did VERY well for her first time out. Not the fastest on the course today, but she proved to be under control and took direction well from me, which I (personally) think is more important, especially at the beginning of her agility "career."

Both of us are completely new to agility, but if it's like music (which I do have some competition experience in), slow and steady wins the race. We're learning proper technique and will worry about speed later once we have the fundamentals mastered. While I know she's a speed-demon (she didn't earn the nicknames "Thunder-Pup" and "Wild-Child" for nothin'!), I personally would be happy with clean (but slower) runs. We don't need medals - she'd just eat them anyway (she had a therapy dog tag once... until she ate it). ;-) But to say she did the entire course correctly would show focus and control, which to me is more important, and no matter what we do, she has fun. After all, 2 steps out the door, and she's trying to drag me back into the building to do more, More, MORE!

Champ's New Home Posted: 1 January 2008
Champ and his New Friend
Champ and his New Friend

Champ got a new home for his first birthday! He has already started making lots of friends at the dog-park in their neighborhood, and will participate in various dog classes as well as going hiking and other fun activities they plan on doing together. He was a sweetie and will be missed by us at his foster-home dearly, but we're all happy for him and his new owner and wish them the best as they begin their life together.
