About me:

I played for 7 years with the Feadán Or Pipe Band as a snare drummer and lead drummer, and have been hooked ever since! The Pipe Band culture is a place where celtic music, dance, art, and athletics thrive, and challenges and versatility can be easily found in all fields. Rudimental snare drumming has taken on a different angle for me, having grown up in the fife and drum world, incorporating a delicacy, finesse, and complexity I never dreamed possible. Pipes also no longer simply mean parades or funerals to me. They can be haunting, beautiful, amazing, or god-awful, depending on who plays them, and highland drumming now has more depth to me than simply closed rolls and double snares. I hope you, too, have discovered this wonderful world, and if you haven't, will look into it. It is a musical and cultural experience that shouldn't be missed by anyone!

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to participate on an active basis for the past few years, as MCV takes up so much of my time, but I was able to take some photos at the 2007 World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow!

Update 9/2007:

I'm going to try to make my "comeback." I'm taking some time off from MCV to play with my old band Oran Mor, if they'll have me. After the whole Scotland experience, seeing my old friends in Oran Mor at the worlds, and reflecting on what I'll do with my time off from MCV, I decided my "other half" (drumming) needed some attention. Whether I'm over the hill or not, I don't know, but it should be exciting seeing if I can still cut it!
